Every once in awhile I run across a photo that speaks to me. It evokes a memory, creates a feeling or inspires me. This particular photo does all three. I adore it. Although I don't personally know the artists responsible for this exquisite print, I do know that I like them already. They have a fabulous shop at Etsy. I have provided the link above. I hope you all take a moment to look into mavora's incredible shop. You will be glad you did...

Easy Urban Hip, Week 6 ~ Life in the Fast Lane...

When I think of life in the fast lane, I think first of the Eagles song which I am sure dates me. Then there are the years I lived life in the fast lane in my very early twenties. When I think of some of my escapades, I shudder. But the one fast lane story that stands out in my mind and makes me chuckle is a real fast lane story. Meaning I was actually in the fast lane on the freeway. It was during my college years and I was going at what I thought was a brisk speed in the fast lane to make it in time for my 8 a.m. class. I looked in my rearview mirror and see a Mercedes quickly approaching me. Apparently, the driver felt I was slowing them down because when I glanced back the second time, I was shocked to receive my first flip-off. Yep, the driver gave me the finger in a very angry way, grim expression and all. I suppose everyone has had that experience, at least everyone in Southern California. What was so shocking was not the fact that I was flipped the bird, but the "flipee". She was a very distinguished, classy-looking gray-haired woman. First came shock, then hurt feelings, then anger, then hysterical laughter. I don't know why this memory stays with me so strongly, but I'm glad it does. It says so much about life and appearances, if you know what I mean.

Regarding appearances, whether you are living life in the fast lane or not, the creations I have chosen for Easy Urban Hip Week 6 will take you where you want to go in fast lane style. All of these items can be found at http://www.etsy.com/ or just click on the links I have provided below for each shop. By the way, speaking of fast lanes, you probably don't want to go as far as Sharon Stone did in "Basic Instinct", but you will want the earrings!

Easy Urban Hip, Week 5; Shades of Gray...

I love movies in beautiful black and white. I love photos in black and white, nothing compares. If only life's choices were as simple, clear and precise as black and white...but then, of course, there is that famous quote about having a messy life is how you know you've lived. I believe that totally, although it's a hard belief to come by. Life needs to be in color, even if only in the imagination. What's wrong and what's right should not always be black and white. I believe there is plenty of room for gray areas. Do you?

Even if you don't agree with me on the gray areas of right and wrong, you must agree with me on the items I have chosen for week 5 of the Easy Urban Hip Series. You will have it all with these gorgeous items. There is black, white and gray in all their glory. You can find all of these unique and one of a kind creations on Etsy. Just click on the links that I have provided for you below. Thanks for stopping by...

Happy Anniversary To Us...

Today is my wedding anniversary and in honor of this, I am posting a card made by one of my favorite Etsy artists, Helen of Pepperina Press. Her cards are above and beyond, as you can see. On top of her extreme talent is the fact that she is an exceptional person as well. So here's to you, Helen. And here's to my husband, Ron, who is above and beyond exceptional in every way.
Check out Pepperina Press on Etsy at

Easy Urban Hip, Week 4; I'm SO Glad I'm a Girl...

At the risk of sounding old-fashioned, I must confess that I love having the door held open for me. I adore having chairs pulled out for me. Is it wrong to be glad that I don't have to mow the lawn, or wash the truck, or take the trash to the curb? I think Doris Day phrased it perfectly in "Please Don't Eat The Daisies" when she told her hubby, played by the gentlemanly David Niven, "We broads own the world". I actually enjoy doing many of the daily drudgeries that all the women's movement scorned; laundry, ironing, cooking meals for my family, wearing makeup, shaving under my arms...I even miss the big hair days of the 90's! So here's to us "broads" for owning the world and admitting that it's glorious to be a girl. The items I chose for this week's series are a perfect example of why we love to be females...enjoy! All of these items can be purchased at Etsy. Just click on the links I have provided.

Easy Urban Hip, Week 3: Ode to Las Vegas...

This week I am doing an ode to Las Vegas. Every summer we drive to Vegas. My husband and two kids. We love Vegas. Sadly, we won't be going this summer for the first time that I can remember (which isn't saying much given my memory). We have some major work being done in our backyard and it requires us to be home. But I can still tell you why I love Vegas, right? I love the dry hot heat of the desert, the incredible desert sunsets, not that we are outside much in that weather. But we usually make a point of going outside just as the sun is setting, the temperature is more enjoyable that time of day without the sun glaring and beating down.

I love to gamble, and so does my husband, but we are lightweight gamblers to say the least. I can usually make $20 stretch for quite awhile. I like blackjack and the poker slot machines. My husband likes blackjack and craps. I am slightly afraid of craps. Too much pressure to think fast and roll good numbers. I like stress-free gambling.

We love the buffets. I mean LOVE. And my daughter and I can't call a Vegas trip complete without hitting the mall at Ceaser's Palace. There is nothing like shopping away from home. You always find cool things to buy. Hence my not-so-graceful lead into Etsy and this week's picks for the Easy Urban Hip style... Any/All of these creations would be perfect for Vegas, Baby, if ya know what I mean. You don't have to be going to Vegas for these lovelies. They are the ultimate accessories for wherever you happen to spend your time...

Come with me, my love, to the sea, the sea of love. I love that old song. I chose this theme because summer is here and as I live 2 miles, as the crow flies, from the pacific ocean, I felt it appropriate. So, as you can see, I chose creations from our urban hip team in shades of the sea. Can't you just feel that soft ocean breeze...? I hope so! I have added the links to these items below so please check them out.

Hello and Welcome

This is the beginning of a beautiful friendship. The idea for this blog came from another beautiful friendship, Kateri Morton, creator of Leaves of Glass. It was her idea to create a blog that showcases not only our own creations, but also the creations of our circle of friends and very talented artists. The links for each of these artists can be found on the right side of this page under the title "The Makers of Eclectic Accessories". These incredible creators are all original. Each one has an "urban hip" style that is unique and cutting-edge. We are all featured on the Etsy site and that is where we all met. Every Wednesday I will add a new, themed list consisting of one item per artist, all of which coordinate with each other. I am very excited about this blog. It's a first for me so please know that it is a work in progress! Here are the artists that I am proud to present to you:

Leaves of Glass- urban vintage jewelry:

If you want to make a fashion impact, all of these items will do that for you. This is the cutting-edge of fashion at its best.
