A preview and some philosophy...

Oh, happy happy Friday, dear ones! 

I hope you all have lovely thoughts and dreams coming to you this weekend.

Today's post has two parts to it:

 

1) A preview of a new Fringe design

2)  A bit of artistic philosophy

I wanted to share with you my newest Fringe design.  I've been working on it for a some time now.  It began with one of those mad visions that came to me all of a sudden and I had to stop everything to sketch it out.  As you know, I fall in love with my designs (you really have to love what you're creating) and this one is no exception.  This piece is a one-of-a-kind because I made it freeform.  No pattern.  I wanted it to be unique and special.  I will make more of this style, in different colors, but no two will be the exact same.

I will be listing it in my shop later today.  For now, here are a couple peeks...

Vision vs. Version

I did leave her my thoughts in the form of a comment. I wanted to share with you what I wrote (with some additions)…

It's my belief that personal vision/style is something that is part of your soul. You're born with it. That may be stating the obvious...Sometimes it's deep within, waiting to be found, and sometimes it's almost right at the surface, easily accessible. Often just living life, growing, maturing, and experiencing love as well as pain will help one to discover one’s own true vision.

I feel it's a different journey for every person, depending on their life experience beginning as a young child. Sadly, some never truly explore themselves well enough, or perhaps have enough self-confidence, to find the answer.

We all know the answer is to "be true to yourself". The question for many is how DO you "be true to yourself"?

If there’s one thing you take away from this post, let it be this: Don’t let the fear of failure stop you from finding your true vision.



Motivation and inspiration are two completely different, yet intimately entertwined, subjects which I have touched on before, but perhaps I will return to them here in the form of a post. How to find motivation and inspiration through your own vision.

I hope there is something you’d like to add to this subject. Please share your thoughts with me, if you’re so inclined.

Three Girls and a Squirrel...

Who says squirrels aren't hip to the couture fashion scene? I believe Jane (not her real name... her true identity will be kept anonymous as was her request) carries this statement with flair and finesse. A fashion trend is born! Jane is sporting my El Grande Cowl in pink and cream.

Twitter Talent...

Those of you who are on Twitter will understand how addicting it can get. I personally find it fun and easy, a great way to check in on friends to see what's cookin'.

Recently I posed a question, or shall I say a challenge, for my Twitter friends. I asked them to write a Twitter story. For those of you who aren't familiar with Twitter, each entry you make must be in 140 characters or less. You are forced to make it short and sweet, which for me, can be quite difficult at times.

In essence, I asked for a story in 140 characters or less. For example, here are two tales that I wrote...it's harder than you think to write a story in 140 or less...

He burst into the room, raw, shaken. “I think I just shot her. She was chasing me; I turned, shot, then silence. Please go see."

And story #2 (which you may recognize from a previous blog post)...

The fine young son asked his mom, "Guess what?” Mom said, "What, honey?” Son says "I like pie". A daily act of torture.

So far, I have had three lovely and talented responses to this challenge. I am going to post them here. I hope you all will be inspired to write one and send it to me via Etsy. The only rule is it must be written with 140 characters or less. I would love to have many posts just like this, with a treasure trove of mini tales.

Aren't all three stories fabulous? I'm so impressed and completely delighted that these three authors participated in my little game. I hope you will join in the fun!

Seven Random Things....

About me. I've been tagged by Tina of Pfeiffer Photos. I’m a bit late in posting my seven random things, but better late than never…

1. I can't stand the sound of tearing paper. I know, weird. I'm sure a psychiatrist would have a grand time analyzing that one.

2. I love muscle cars and sleek, sexy fast cars. Always have. When the car shows come to town, I try to go to them.

3. Everyone in my home is a Libra. My husband, daughter, son and I are all Libras. Makes for a very harmonious atmosphere!

4. I paint. Oils on canvas. I don't get the chance to do it much these days, but I've been painting since I was 13.

5. Old movies are a passion of mine. I rarely watch anything else on TV. That's really not a mystery to those of you who follow my blog though, is it?

6. I love to bake. My specialty is biscotti.

7. I like reading 3 or 4 books at a time. All kinds of genres. Yay for books!

I thought this was great fun and actually, I could add many more random things that I’m sure none of you are all that interested in. It’s my obsession with lists (another random thing about me). I think that’s why I love these types of activities.
