Top Tweet of the Day...

A Financially Unstable Mess, But At The Liquor Store They Call Me Ma'am. Print by Mincing Mockingbird.

Top tweet of the day by mmockingbird (aka Mincing Mockingbird), via Twitter... I actually have a tie for best, both by Mincing Mockingbird.

"I have difficulty displaying naked courage. I get scared thinking that there is a day when McRib will not be available."

and...

"Snow-capped mountains behind palm trees? I don't pay to live in a super expensive city to have clashing exterior decor!"

Hilarious, as are most of mmockingbird's tweets. Not only is he an artist with command over all beasts of the air, he has command of twitter as well.

Thanks for checking in, friends! xo

Twitter a Tale...

I am delighted to present another Twitter tale from a clever artist. She decided to participate in my challenge. If you aren't familiar with what I'm referring to, please check out this previous post, Twitter Talent.

Lynn of UnaOdd wrote this fabulous story in less than 140 characters...

She was walking along the railroad tracks when her husband called. "He's gone... please come home" She fell....no one there to catch her.

I love it! It's a romance and a mystery with a hint of desperation and tragedy. Well done, Lynn. Also, I'd like to share with you one of my favorite pieces in Lynn's beautiful shop.

The Ruby Red Bangle Bracelet
Thank you, Lynn! If anybody is interested in participating in my Twitter Talent series, please contact me.

Happy Earth Day!

Three Girls and a Squirrel...

Who says squirrels aren't hip to the couture fashion scene? I believe Jane (not her real name... her true identity will be kept anonymous as was her request) carries this statement with flair and finesse. A fashion trend is born! Jane is sporting my El Grande Cowl in pink and cream.

Her sister is equally stylish and hip with a soft kitten neckbow and lovely brooch. To see this fashion forward squirrel please click here. An inspired ensemble that you truly must see.

A big thank you to Joanne of shavingkitsupplies who is equipped with mad Photoshop skills and Brenda of Phydeaux who is my partner in crime for this post. See what happens when three girls on Twitter have too much time on their hands?

{No squirrels were harmed in the making of this segment.}

Twitter Talent...

Those of you who are on Twitter will understand how addicting it can get. I personally find it fun and easy, a great way to check in on friends to see what's cookin'.

Recently I posed a question, or shall I say a challenge, for my Twitter friends. I asked them to write a Twitter story. For those of you who aren't familiar with Twitter, each entry you make must be in 140 characters or less. You are forced to make it short and sweet, which for me, can be quite difficult at times.

In essence, I asked for a story in 140 characters or less. For example, here are two tales that I wrote...it's harder than you think to write a story in 140 or less...

He burst into the room, raw, shaken. “I think I just shot her. She was chasing me; I turned, shot, then silence. Please go see."

And story #2 (which you may recognize from a previous blog post)...

The fine young son asked his mom, "Guess what?” Mom said, "What, honey?” Son says "I like pie". A daily act of torture.

So far, I have had three lovely and talented responses to this challenge. I am going to post them here. I hope you all will be inspired to write one and send it to me via
Etsy. The only rule is it must be written with 140 characters or less. I would love to have many posts just like this, with a treasure trove of mini tales.

~Tale by
Phydeaux;
“Apocalypse is upon us.” His voice steady, eyes calm. She swallowed a sob, clutching the pilfered thin mints to her chest.

~Tale by
Fray;
It was a love like no other; warm, twisted. "Damn you! I surrender!" Into the woolen madness she fell, defeated, yet so very...happy.

~Tale by
Paperhill;
"Do you ever feel alone, even when you're not?" she asked him, a stranger. He replied, "I did, until I stood here, with you". She smiled.

Aren't all three stories fabulous? I'm so impressed and completely delighted that these three authors participated in my little game. I hope you will join in the fun!

Pet Peeves...

Or as John Cleese likes to call them, pet hates. It was John Cleese who gave me the idea for this post. I follow him on Twitter and he asked the question, "What are your pet hates?” Well, as a girl who loves the opportunity to make a list, I felt this was a great list to start. I actually replied to John Cleese via Twitter with a few of my pet peeves. I know, isn't it wild that I could actually contact him in that way? So great!

I didn't think I had many pet peeves until I actually started listing them. Now, when I refer to pet peeves, I am referring to light-hearted pet peeves. I don't mean the tragic kind, like starving children, cruelty to animals, abuse of any kind, bullies. I mean kind of silly ones. So here's my list which I will very likely continue to add to as I think of additional pet peeves. They will most certainly become more obscure and random.

1. Loud talkers

2. Loud eaters
3. Rude drivers
4. The sound of tearing paper (I know I've mentioned this one before)
5. Pompous asses
6. Water spots on my kitchen faucet
7. The word "can't" and/or whiners
8. Aggressive, pushy people
9. People who interrupt you when you're talking
(extension of #8)
10. The way my husband stirs the raisins into his oatmeal (I'd never tell him)
11. People who stand super close behind me in line. Grrr.
12. The beer commercials during televised sports events.
13. Reality T.V.
14. The sound of a slamming door.
