Lace soul...

.

I promised myself I would wrap my feet in white vintage lace this summer and wear flip flops.  Somehow, the summer slipped by without my realizing it was gone, and without one day of lace-wrapped/flip flop feet.

Today has been a day of summery warmth, birds tweeting and soft breezes.  Although the sun is moving across the sky faster, leaving us sooner, it still seems like a golden summer day.  The perfect opportunity to fulfill that promise to myself.

Lace souls.
Two strips of vintage white lace, wrapped this way and that.
Tied at the ankles.
Bronze flips flops.
Silver nail polish.

I highly recommend it.

The flip flops and nail polish are from Old Navy.  Jeans are stolen, I mean borrowed, from R.  I'd like to suggest this: build layers beginning with the boyfriend jeans (mentioned in my previous post):

boyfriend jeans + lace + flip flops = happiness

Truthfully, the lace and flip flops would be just as beautiful with a skirt, flirty frock or shorts.

Is there some little (or big) thing you promised yourself this summer, but never got around to it?  Well, follow my lead and do it anyway.  Summer may be gone, but every day is a new opportunity to fulfill a promise to oneself.

Thank you so much for visiting...and thank you for being you....xo

Boyfriend jeans...

.

...Or in my case, husband jeans.  My new favorite thing.  R has a couple pair of super fabulous Levis that I steal on a regular basis.  I especially love wearing them when he's away on one of his business trips (like he is now), and I'm missing him.

I just cinch the waste with a variety of belts sporting interchangable buckles.  His jeans are much too long for me so I roll the hem to just above the ankle, sometimes mid-calf.  I wear them with flips flops, boots, ballet flats, mary janes, chucks and the list goes on.  Yep, my new favorite thing these days...

I think they look particularly sexy when paired with a somewhat snug top and slightly messy hair.  Just my opinion...

Thanks so much for stopping by...You always brighten my day....xo

Dear cookoorikoo...

.

Dearest cookoorikoo,

Thank you for creating this yo-yo necklace.  The Partly Sunny Necklace is everything and then some!  Partly Sunny is my sunshine.

I love this latest addition to my cookoorikoo collection, and I wear it all the time.

I do believe you are quite brilliant.  Thank you for being you.

Much love, sunshine and yo-yos...
me

The Nostalgia Series...

.

By the light of a flickering candle, she begins her nightly ritual of braiding her hair. Her reflection in the mirror becomes a window to the past. As always, he comes back to her then…his dark eyes haunting, encompassing. The desire and the longing. The heartbreak. And so many questions…

She silently pleads for sleep to come quickly as she clutches the locket hanging from a chain of leather and lace since the day he left.

And so begins the journey.  A new series I've created, based on a story.  A story from the past.  Each new design from The Nostalgia Series will come with another installment...

Stay tuned.

Turquoise Tuesday...

Hello, and Happy Turquoise Tuesday, lovely friends!  I hope your day is a wonderful one.

Today's a busy day for me...I am preparing the final touches on my monthly Lillyella blog post feature (I simply love doing them!) which is due today, getting orders ready, and juggling about five other tasks at the same time.  As a result, today's Turquoise Tuesday is a random collection of photos I've seen and loved for one reason or another.  They are a mix of happiness, daring, calm, and beauty.  I truly hope you enjoy gazing at each of them as much as I do...

Aren't these all just gorgeous?  I can't pick a favorite, but perhaps you can...

Here's wishing you a beautiful week!  Thank you so much for stopping by to see this week's Turquoise Tuesday post.  Your comments always bring my joy...xo

Two bright stars...

I love this photograph of Clark Gable and Carole Lombard taken on his birthday.  They look friendly and relaxed like regular people, not superstars....I love that he's wearing jeans, and her hair is softly framing her face, the slight messiness on the side table, the rustic, painted brick wall, the matching kittens, the gentle look on Clark's face and the way she's looking at him.

I hope you're enjoying a peaceful Sunday....Thank you so much for visiting...xo

Today...

.

Hello, hello and TGIF!  Today I listed a new item in my shop...The Cold Black Heart Cowl.  I made one of these last winter in pale grey and just now finished this one in Amelie inspired colors.  I'm quite thrilled with the grass green and black and grey accents.  It makes me happy to look at.  I like to think about some sweet lady wearing this with her cherry red lipstick stashed in the pocket...

Some of the things I hope to do this weekend...

~ Get up early and welcome the day by drinking coffee and talking with R
~ Complete the gift I'm making for a lovely friend...we're doing a gift exchange
~ Get next week's new pieces ready for photographing
~ Walk on the beach
~ Stop by our little local farmer's market on Saturday
~ Make chicken noodle soup
~ Bake a double batch of biscotti
~ Catch up on emails
~ Write an overdue reply to a sweet letter sent to me
~ Paint my toenails dark olive green
.
.
.
Just a few of the many items on my list.  Did you happen to notice how many different fiber-related activities were on my list (only two)?  I just thought of a couple more needlework projects I wanted to work on this weekend...Also, I'm certain you'll be relieved to know that I decided to spare you the gory details of my chore list...

Do you have anything planned for the weekend, dear ones?

I'm so happy you dropped in...Thank you for being you...xo

Fresh Fringe...

.

Hi, dear ones, and Happy Thursday to you!  I hope your week has been a good one so far.

I have been very busy working on new designs and will have a new, big scale, different direction sort of piece to show you in the (hopefully) near future.  It's been part of my Fringe plan for three years now, but finally, I'm actually making it.  Do those last two sentences make any sense at all?  I have been so excited working on new things that I tend to get carried away...

Today I want to share with you three new Fringe pieces that are available in my shop
There are six new items as of today...more to be added this week.

You can see all of the newest pieces

Cream coziness
Oversized elegance
Sculptural feather

A study in texture
Tricolored neutrality
Fashion couture

Large scale texture
Contrast of neutrals
Mountain inspiration

I hope you enjoy viewing these three designs.  I love each one for different reasons.  An artist must love his/her designs to complete them with the highest standards.  That's how I feel about my work, anyway.

On a completely different note, I'm sure you all are aware of the devastating anniversary coming up - 9/11.  Let's keep close to our heart those who have suffered the greatest loses on that day as well as in the following years: The passengers on those three flights, the people in and around the Twin Towers, the people in The Pentagon, the brave firefighters and every other rescue worker, and our military.

Thank you, lovely friends, for visiting me...Your comments brighten each and every one of my days...xo

.

Turquoise Tuesday...

.

Hello, friends, and Happy Turquoise Tuesday!  How are you all doing today?  I hope you're having a fabulous day.  The three day weekend sort of crunched up my week a bit, but it was lovely just the same.

This week's feature is an extra special little bundle, a family member.  My darling dear brother's pup, B-mo.  This photo was taken a couple weeks ago when they were visiting.  Of course, he's a real crowd pleaser and a patient model...and he's wearing turquoise in the form of goggles so there you go...the perfect focus for today's spotlight!

B-mo, the Wonder Dog!

I'd like to thank my brother for taking this perfect shot.  What a photographer!  As you will see if you visit his beautiful blog,  Brock Street.

Thank you for visiting today, lovely friends....xo

Fall Palette...

.

I'm a huge fan of National Geographic.  It's one magazine I still subscribe to.  This photograph was taken at John Day Fossil Beds National Monument, Painted Hills, Oregon.  Have you ever seen a more magnificent Sunrise?  Talk about inspiring.  From my point of view as an artist, this is very much a part of my Fall/Winter Palette.  To me, nature is the true palette no matter what your artistic medium is.

It's always so lovely to hear from you...Thank you for stopping by, and don't forget to find the time for yourself to stop and appreciate nature...xo

1938

.

Photograph from 1938

I lost the link for this photo, unfortunately.  The link had a bit of an explanation for the the circumstances of this photo.  I think we all have some idea of what life was like in a rural town in 1938.  I don't know, I rather prefer not knowing anything about the people here.  I can imagine them and their life and that's enough for me.  I just love this photo.  I love the clothes, the rustic look of everything, the overalls, the whisper of a smile about to form on their faces, the car, how they all look like they're related, the sepia colors, the upturned collar on the man on the right, the hats, the just-shootin'-the-breeze atmosphere... See?  I really do I love this photo.

I hope you all enjoy your weekend!  It's a three day weekend for us here.  Not too much planned...A family barbecue on Sunday, that's about it.  We prefer to stay close to home on the big holiday weekends.  Too much craziness on the roads.

Thank you so much for stopping by, dear friends.  I don't think I've said it lately, but...
Thank you for being you.  xo

Fresh Fringe...

.

Hello, lovely friends, and Happy Wednesday!  Are you having a good day so far?  I truly hope so.

My latest design has arrived at Fringe.  Inspired by phone booths and France, romance and mystery...Can you guess what I'm referring to...?

sexy state of disarray
urban decay
contrast and vibrancy
whimsical blossom brooch

I have many new pieces to share with you so I hope you will stay tuned.  This season I have been inspired by many different things; love, larger than of life, nature, romance, mystery, and much more, but my greatest inspiration is you.

As you may know, I've been busily working on my Fringe F/W Collection.  As a result, I fear I've neglected visiting my favorite blogs.  You may have noticed, and I wanted to let you know I do miss those visits.  I hope to be back to my usual visits soon.

Thank you for taking time out your day to stop by...I truly appreciate it...xo

P.S.  It's the first day of the month so don't forget to say "rabbit" for good luck!
