Two Lovely Surprises...

Happy photograph by royalnoodle.

This week has already been a very happy week for me. Yesterday, the beautiful and extremely talented Nichole featured one of my pieces on her gorgeous blog, little brown pen. It was such a wonderful surprise, and made me smile all day. She titled her post "Dear Fringe", just like a warm personal message, and I was very touched by her generosity.

Today Etsy included my Lovely Librarian Cowl in their Etsy Finds article. Such a thrill and honor. Again, I wasn't expecting this. When my two dear friends, Kateri and Shana, contacted me almost simultaneously to congratulate me, I was completely surprised to learn about it.

I'm most grateful for both of these special gestures of appreciation for my work. I find that when life feels most stressful, or discouraging, magical little gifts float your way to remind you that you're headed in the right direction...

Fall '09 Collection...

75 Septembers Wrap.

New at Fringe, 75 Septembers Wrap. I wanted to create a feeling of days gone by, and at the same time, up-to-the-minute urban prairie chic. I used vintage pieces for the kilt pin brooch. The effect was meant to be a creation that could step back into the 1970's or 1870's as well as hold it's own as a strong presence in this season's fashion scene.

As Requested...

Yes, friends, it's Robinhood: Men in Tights in all it's glory. My 12-year-old boy (he'll turn 13 tomorrow) suggested I post this snippet because he's sure all of you will appreciate the humor. It's his favorite movie, knocking Napoleon Dynamite from the #1 spot and pushing Smokey and The Bandit to the #3 position.

The Wreckers...

The Wreckers. Have you heard of them? They're an incredibly talented duo, Michelle Branch and Jessica Harp. I never get tired of their music. The fabulous Kateri of Leaves of Glass created a stunning bracelet, inspired by The Wreckers.

The Wreckers.

"Tennessee" is one of my favorite songs. It makes me wish I were back in that beautiful state.

Beauty Essential...

Naked Lunch.

If you've never tried M.A.C. Cosmetics, you've missed out on a treat. I have several items from this line and love every one of them. One in particular that I think anyone would love, no matter your skin color or eye color or how much makeup you wear. I'm referring to a little pot of eyeshadow. The shade is Naked Lunch. At $14, it's the perfect, neutral shade for your lids. The powder is super fine and will last forever. I dare you to use it up! This particular shade looks stunning on your lids and just below your brow. It brightens your eyes and gives them a pretty, sexy, even tone. I highly recommend this product as a beauty essential...

Fringe 2009 Fall Collection...

Sketch Pad Cowl.

Head in the Clouds Scarf.

Double Down Cowl.

Three new creations for my Fall 09 Collection. I love the charcoal and cream combination, and they go with almost anything in one's wardrobe. Each piece is quite versatile. Both cowls can be worn as capelets. The scarf can be twist-y or ruffle-y. I look forward to sharing many more new designs with you in the coming days and weeks. Fringe will be hoppin', I tell ya!

Light Up Your Life...

Gorgeous lighting in unique and interesting shapes. A great way to add personality to your home. No matter what your budget, you can find something special to set the mood of a room. Perhaps you can make one of your own out of found objects. I have a lighting fixture design that I have been working on for some time now. I pick up components for it as I find them at my favorite vintage/junk shop. It's about halfway complete. Above are some of my favorite designs from Anthropologie.

For Those Left Behind...

raining sunshine by blissful images

"Hope" is the thing with feathers
by Emily Dickinson

"Hope" is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul
And sings the tune without the words
And never stops -- at all

And sweetest -- in the Gale -- is heard
And sore must be the storm
That could abash the little Bird
That kept so many warm

I've heard it in the chillest land
And on the strangest Sea
Yet, never, in Extremity,
It asked a crumb -- of Me.

~ To me, the hardest yet best way to honor loved ones lost is to go on living with hope in our hearts. For the survivors and the ones who lost loved ones on 9/11, I wanted to express that in the form of a poem and a photograph....

Just Add Jeans...

Ladies, have you seen the Sundance catalog lately? I receive them in the mail and they torture me on a regular basis. There are so many gorgeous goodies in those little evil enticers. Here I've put together a little grouping of some of my favorite items...all you need to do is just add jeans. Click on the image to see more about it. Thanks for stopping by...xo

Streets of Bakersfield...

I loved seeing these signs when we went through Bakersfield on our way home from vacation. Can anyone guess why?

Mammoth Memories..

As you probably already know, we took a road trip this past August to Mammoth and then Yosemite. The views and surroundings were stunning, breathtaking. I'd like to share with you some of the sights of Mammoth...

Lake Mary. See the mountain reflected in the water? There was an eagle that was swooping down to pluck fish from the lake, but I wasn't quick enough to take a photo of that magnificence.

A lush, green meadow next to Lake Mary.

A peaceful stream that I had to capture in this photo.
Rainbow Falls. You can see the rainbow at the bottom of the falls if you look closely. It was much more obvious in person. The man standing in the water gives you an idea of the scale of this stunning waterfall.

Devil's Postpile. Words cannot describe the awesomeness of this. It was formed by a glacier and it is absolutely huge.

Lake Tioga. Scene of the infamous Josephine accident. The views were heavenly.

A meadow clearing and two amazing deer grazing.

So there you have it. A few of the places we saw while in Mammoth. Next stop, Yosemite.

Fringe Fall 2009...

Two more pieces from the Fall Collection have been added to my shop...

The Double Down Cowl.

This cowl can easily be worn as a capelet, stole or shoulder warmer....

The Wisteria Shrug.

The rich, saturated colors of the blossom brooch make this shrug an eye-catching accessory.

I hope you like these most recent Fall designs. As you probably know, but in case you're a new visitor to my blog, each and every item is designed and handmade by me. I have so many others sketched out, some are in the works, some are just waiting for the detail work to be completed. I look forward to sharing each piece with you as it's revealed. Thank you so much for stopping by...xo
