Summer project - Redoing the boy's room.
New paint chosen by the boy (Teton Blue by Behr), applied by yours truly.
I love to paint!
Crown moulding installed by Ron.
We found the most gorgeous old barn door.
The boy wanted to make a new bed for himself (with Ron's help),
and this barn door will be the headboard.
Rusted and worn to perfection.
From my Study in Succulents project.
Found this sweet little stool at my favorite treasure shop.
Another found treasure.
These gorgeous horns may need some work, but when Ron's done,
they will be magnificent again.
Twin gifts for two very special ladies.
Grape leaves!
A gift from Ron.
Did you know I collect old locks and keys?
Shocking, right? *wink*
More from my Study in Succulents project.
This little machine gets quite a workout around here.
Calm and peaceful, sometimes.
Happy Wednesday, dear hearts. I hope your week is wonderful thus far and will continue to be so. This summer is winding down. How is that possible? Our summer was different this year. It feels to me like The Summer That Never Was. Do I feel that way every year around this time? Maybe to some degree...I don't know. Today, the sun is out, there is a mild breeze, the birds are singing, no one in the neighborhood is running their leaf blower or weed wacker, and I have a bored teenager on my hands. I guess if that doesn't define a good summer day, nothing does.
So here's to making the last weeks of summer count. Every single day. My unsolicited advice? Wake up with a smile, even if you have to force it. I read that if you are feeling stressed, force yourself to smile for a few moments. The real deal smile that crinkles your eyes. The study showed that you will actually lower your heart rate and have a more positive outlook. It works for me! So give it a try...
Much love...xo

Love seeing the choices made by kids & teens for their rooms, it really gives one a look into who they really are...at least for the moment. His room is going to be so interesting and cool, would love to see the final product.
We've had an amazing summer weather-wise, but for me because of the camps, it's gone by in a flash...would love to have another go at it.

Love that barn door! Perfectly aged. I'm impressed that your son would even think to use that as a headboard, it took me well into my 30s before I started thinking of using things for other than their intended purpose!
good advice my friend! i love the wall color it looks so much like one of our rooms here, love the barn wood and the little stool! have a great week! xo suz
J ~ Hello, darling. Thank you for your comment! I will definitely take some pics of his room and post them. It's almost finished.
I'm so glad to hear you've had a good summer. Summer always goes by too fast for my liking. It's my favorite season.

Khammany ~ Thank you for your comment! I love that barn door too. I'm totally jealous of it. :)
Our son has always had his own definite style, even as the tiniest person. I like to think I've encouraged/influenced him in his appreciation for old things. His dad is a very handy guy and a skilled woodworker. Ron has made beds, cabinets and other things for our home. I know that has been a great influence for the boy as well.
I can see from your blog that you have a beautiful eye for style and definitely know how to use things in a creative new way. :)

Suz ~ Hi, sweet friend! Thank you for stopping by. I owe you an email! Sorry for the delay. It's been so busy here. I will write this weekend.
That wall color is really so gorgeous. I love it. What room do you have painted that color?
I hope you have a beautiful weekend!
xoxo
