Day 31
me again

{photo taken by my brother last weekend}

Well, dear ones,
this is the last day of the
January photo a day challenge...
and guess what...?
There's a new one starting up for February.
I haven't decided if I'm going to participate.
It was a great deal of fun,
so maybe I will.

I hope you enjoyed this past month of photos.
If you think you may want to join in on the fun for February,
check out the list at Fat Mum Slim: here.

Thank you for visiting!
Much love...

Day 29
In my fridge

Those two fern leaves came home with me
from Glen Ellen.

We spent the weekend with my brother.
It was a perfect weekend.
Friday in San Fran,
Saturday we drove to his cabin
in Glen Ellen,
Sunday afternoon we flew home.

So many wonderful memories were made.
And pictures were taken!
Will share more with you
as soon as I catch up on my orders
and such...

 {Saturday walk in Glen Ellen.}

Much love!

Guilty pleasure...

Day 24
Guilty pleasure

For Ron, that is.
I couldn't narrow my guilty pleasures down to just one.
*wink*

Something old...

Day 23
Something old

An old shack at an abandoned silver mine in Mammoth.
I took about a million photos that day.
So much abandonment must be preserved...
I'll share more of those photos soon.

Much love!

A super close-up shot of water,

I hope you're having a beautiful week so far,
darling dears!

I'm sort of running behind a bit.
I have yet to visit my favorite blogs...
new Fringe designs to show you...
as well as many other things on my list...
if only time could stand still.
Just for a little while.

Thank you for visiting,
and much love!

.

Happiness...

.

Here we are on a Sunday evening,
day 15 of the January photo a day challenge...
The weekend simply flew by.

Day 15
Happiness

I was compelled to choose this as my
"happiness" photo,
even though I've posted photos of this painting
here before.

The title of this painting is
"Happiness".
Can you see why its name is such?
The beautiful girl in the photo
is the artist's daughter.
The photo doesn't really do it justice.
It positively leaps with life in person.
The colors are not properly portrayed here either.
In reality, they are the most gorgeous colors,
saturated and brilliant
and placed perfectly.

~

I hope you're enjoying a peaceful evening,
dear friends.

Thank you so much for stopping by.
I'll be back tomorrow.
Until then,
much love!

Something I'm reading...

.

Day 14
Something I'm reading

I'm reading several books (and a magazine) at once.
That's how I am...

Sometimes I'll just have one book going.
Most often, I'm alternating between a few,
reading whichever one suits my mood.

How about you?

.

In my bag...

.

Day 13
In my bag

I'm a bit of a packrat.
It was fun to line everything up for this photo though.

Happy Friday, dear hearts!
 I'll be back tomorrow...

Close-up...

.

Day 12
Close-up

One of my treasures.
I quite like how this photo turned out.
I used Ron's fancy camera
(and the fancy new lens I gave him for Christmas).
I have had so much fun using his camera, dears.
He may never get it back...

Thank you for visiting, sweet friends.
And thank you for being you.

Tomorrow's another shiny new day
and with it comes a new photo.
Until then,
 much love!

Where I sleep...

Day 11
Where I sleep

In the bed that Ron (my husband) built.
Under the painting that Ardith (my grandmother) gave me.

Hope your day is fruitful!
I'll be back later today with
Day 11

Childhood...

January photo a day.
Day 10
Childhood

Yep, that's me.
With my favorite pony,
and my fancy slippers.

Daily routine...

.

Day 9
Daily routine

Every morning, first thing.
My journals and coffee.

My daily routine.
I highly recommend it.
It doesn't have to be a long block of time.
I journal
at the crack of dawn.
Usually before anyone is awake.
Usually before I've spoken my first word of the day.

I know I've blogged about
the importance of journals
and sketching,
but you see,
I feel strongly about it.
Certain things
are worth repeating.

I hope you had a beautiful start
to your week, dear friends.

I'll be back.
Tomorrow.

Much love...

.

My sky...

.

And the January photo a day challenge continues
on this gorgeous Sunday.

Day 8
My sky

Oh California,
my native state,
I love you!

.

Favourite...

.

It's already the 7th day of the
January photo a day challenge.
Another challenging choice for me today.
My home is filled with favourites.
I'm surrounded by cherished objects...

Day 7
Favourite

A very old yellow footstool.
Inherited from Ardith.
A very old key.
A gift from my darling brother.

I hope your weekend is filled
with sweet moments.

See you tomorrow!
Much love...

Makes me smile...

.

So it's Day 6 of the photo a day challenge,
and once again it was a tough decision.

Yes, I'm one of those people who have a
hard time with the little decisions...
I hope this one makes you smile.

Day 6
Makes me smile

As you may have suspected,
there is a story behind this.

My buddy, Kateri of Leaves of Glass, made this for me.
It's one of our "codewords".

How did "hampacket" come to be?
It went something like this...
Kateri was visiting us from Chicago.
We were in the kitchen with the boy.
I was getting a ham ready to put in the oven.
The boy picks up the little packet that comes with the ham.
You know, the glaze packet?

"What's this packet for?"
"It's a packet. For the ham."
"It's a hampacket!"
"And it rhymes with Piewacket!"

And so on, and so on...
With lots of silliness and laughing.

So that following Christmas,
Kateri sent me this embroidery hoop.

Awesome, right?
I pass it many times during the course of my day.
It always, always makes me smile.
Thank you, Kateri.
You light up my life.

~

Also, this just happened.

A moment of relaxation and quiet.
In other words, the boys have left the building.
*wink*
I love the lighting in the room at dusk.

I hope you're enjoying your time of day,
no matter what time zone you're in.

Thanks ever so much for visiting!
See you tomorrow, darling dears.

Much love...
xo

.

Something I wore...

.

Hello, darling dears.
It's the fifth day of the photo challenge.
I thought I'd reach back in time a bit for today's subject.

Day 5
Something I wore

Dancing with Ron.
Ten years ago.
New Year's Eve in Boston.
My sister-in-law's wedding.
I wore long black gloves.
A long black gown.
Red lipstick.
An updo and bangs.
This photo brings a lot of
wonderful memories
back to the surface.

~

How is your Thursday going?
It's a beautiful day here.
The weather is glorious.

I'm trying out a new slow-cooker recipe: chicken tortilla soup.
I'll let you know how it turns out.

The boy just said, "I'm going to pay my way through college by embroidering."
Huh?
Honestly, he cracks me up on a daily basis.

I'll be back tomorrow.
If you want to know about the
January photo a day challenge,
check it out here.

Much love...

,

Letterbox...

.

Howdy, darling dears!
This day has been crazy busy,
but good.

Much was accomplished,
including my photo of the day.
Yippee!

Day 4
Letterbox

Isn't this an awesome photo?
The reason it's so awesome:
Ron took this one today.
At our local post office.
I do have a post office box there,
but it's not in this photo.

Thank you so much for stopping in...
See you again tomorrow!

Much love...
xo

.

Something I adore...

.

Hello there.
Today's challenge was, well, a bit challenging.
I adore lots and lots of things.
I collect things,
I have special treasures made by friends,
family heirlooms,
you get the idea.

I decided to go with something my dad gave me when Ardith passed.

Day 3
Something I adore
Ardith's bench

I have many memories of Ardith
connected with this bench.
It's home is in my office/studio.
I see it every single day.
Memories of Ardith weave themselves
through and around this bench.
They settle themselves in my heart.
Every day.

Until tomorrow, darling dears,
thank you for being you.

Much love...

Breakfast...

.

G
Good morning, lovely friends!
I'm back (try not to be too shocked)
with my photo of the day.

Day 2
Breakfast

If you're wondering what the photo a day challenge is,
check it out here.

See you tomorrow,
same bat time, same bat channel.
*wink*

By the way,
we saw Sherlock Holmes 2
last week.
We loved it!
If you loved the first one,
you'll feel the same about the second one.
Such an action-packed,
fun,
all around good time
movie to see on the big screen.

Until tomorrow!
Much love...

January's photo a day challenge...

.

Happy New Year, dear ones!
I don't know about you, but I'm ready for the new year to begin.
I'm not so sorry to see the hectic holiday season come to an end either.

There are so many wonderful quotes/philosophies/thoughts
about beginning a new year.
This one is probably my favorite:

"Nobody can go back and start a new beginning,
but anyone can start today and make a new ending."

~

I saw a wonderful challenge whilst visiting the interwebs.
It's the January photo a day challenge

Fun, right?
I couldn't resist giving this one a go,
and I hope you'll join in the fun.
It's never too late to join in.

Here's my Day 1 photo.
Me.

I'll be back tomorrow with a new photo.
Yay!

Have a beautiful first day of the year,
and thank you for being you.

Much love!
