Week 2...

.

...Week 2 of Ron's trip...
Dear darling friends,
I'm afraid something had to give in my daily/weekly schedule
 while Ron's away.
It's obviously been my blogging routine.
As you know, Ron's away for two weeks.
This being week 2.

I've had quite a lot on my plate.
Custom orders have kept me happily occupied.
Though they have sort of slowed down any new additions to the shop.
I do have lots of new pieces coming though.
Stay tuned...

Also,
Keeping our boy occupied to some extent.
Although (please humor me as I go off on a tangent)
I am a firm believer that kids should experience
true boredom in the summer months.

I remember very clearly being bored stiff in the summer.
It helped me to discover our local library which was
conveniently located within walking distance.
I spent hours and hours there.
Magical hours.
I rode my bike along long, silent, sun-baked dirt roads.
I picked wildflowers.
Queen Anne's Lace mostly so that I could make little cages.
Did you ever do that as a kid?
I made magnificent card houses with my friend.
You get the idea.
I found things to do.
All children should experience that same incentive inducing boredom.
(End of side trip along memory lane)

And let's not forget
the endless domestic type things
(and 100 little odds and ends)
that take up a lot of time too,
as you well know.

To those of you waiting for email replies.
I will answer all of you this week.
Pinky swear!

~

So, you see, this is my roundabout way of saying I missed you,
and I'm sorry I've been away so long.

I'd like to share some photos I've taken in the past week.
Sort of a week in pictures.
I hope you enjoy them...

The boy had friends over last Tuesday.
A teen pool party.
Boys and girls...
And so it begins.

I love my succulent hanging baskets.
Easy peasy to care for and
downright gorgeous.

Fringe overload!
Or as a girlfriend said to me,
"It's what Mr. T would look like after visiting Fringe."
YESSSS!
LOVE that thought!

Backyard posy harvest.
They are now in vases and bowls of water.
Brightening our days.

Plain yogurt,
homemade caramel sauce,
fresh strawberries.
Every day for breakfast.
I'm addicted.

Turquoise toenails!
Yippee skippee!

On a particularly slow day,
we made up a game.
I paid the boy a penny for each consecutive basket.
The rules became very complex.
I'll spare you the gory details.
In the end,
I owed him $4.
Ouch!

I spent some time relaxing in the water.
The water element inspires me like nothing else.
You probably already know that about me...
*wink*

I'll admit it.
I've had a little icy cocktail
a couple of evenings.

Gin and tonic with lime,
come to mama.

All and all.
If you take out the part where
I worry my head off about Ron.

And the fact that the boy and I
miss him terribly,

It's truly been nothing but blues skies around here.
I hope with all my heart,
dear ones,
it's the same in your little corner of the universe.

Much love,
and thank you so much for visiting!

xo

P.S.  We saw Kung Fu Panda 2 today.  We loved it.  Who gets weepy at animated movies...?
I do, that's who. #sappy

Countdown...

.

...to peach cobbler.
These babies will be ready to pick in a couple weeks.

And I will turn them into this...

Ron's favorite: peach cobbler.
Mama D's Peach Cobbler,
to be specific.
If you'd like to try my recipe,
I posted it here.

You can also substitute the peaches for
berries, apples, apricots..
whatever fresh fruit you have on hand.

Ron loves it most made with our
Babcock peaches.

Speaking of Ron,
that little devil,
look what he brought me last night.
#evil

And by 9 a.m. this morning,
it had already started...
#help!

Speaking of countdowns...
Ron leaves tomorrow for a
long trip.
Over two weeks in Asia.
*sniff*

I guess he thought 5 lbs. of Red Vines
would ease the pain.
And don't forget,
Red Vines are "always fat free".

I admit I'm feeling blue about Ron's trip.
Don't worry, I'll snap out of it.
I have our boy to think of.
No sad saps allowed! :)
He and I will have fun together,
that's for sure.

Still, I worry so
when Ron's away from us.
You know me...

I hope you have something lovely planned for the weekend.
Anything you'd like to share with me?
I'd love to hear all about it.

Thank you so much for visiting, dear ones!
You make me smile...
xo

P.S. I just realized...Ron timed it perfectly.
He'll be back just in time for the first peach cobbler of the season!

Fresh Fringe...

.

Hello, dear ones.

I hope your week is off to a fantastic start!

I've been busy this past week
adding new items at Fringe.

You can check them out here,
or visit my "n e w" section in the shop.

Urchin Cowl

As always, it was a complete delight to make each piece.
I loved working with these beautiful colors.

I have to admit,
I'm on a bit of a navy and cream kick.
I imagine there will be more proof of that
in my shop soon.

I hope you enjoyed looking at my new pieces.
I'm so grateful you stopped by!

Thank you so much for your encouragement,
your loving,
kind,
and caring
words.

And.
Thank you for being you.

You are a delight!

It seems like only yesterday...

.

...when our boy wouldn't leave the house without Fluffy.
Today was his 8th grade graduation.
*sniff*

I made myself weepy with that photo of Fluffy.

To cheer myself up,
I put on my green shoes,
Ron's [cuffed] Levis,
 and attempted to compose myself
before the graduation ceremony.

As it happened,
I didn't make a fool of myself
by getting all weepy
in front of the boy.

The ceremony was short and sweet.
As for afterwards...

That's another story.

It seems a mother's heart is always breaking.
Sometimes slowly and slightly.
Sometimes...

Whether it be from joy or sorrow.
or just the day to day stuff.

Still, I wouldn't change a thing.

Much love to you...
xo

.

Guess who's home?

.

For a few days, anyway....

I'll be back tomorrow with another post...
Much love!
xo

.

Happy weekend!

.

If you need me this weekend,
I'll be here.

That is,
if the weather would warm up.
{I'm talking to you, Mother Nature.

What are your plans for the weekend, darling dears?
Listen to Mama D and be sure
to spend time outside.
No matter what.

Your comments are like
ripples of happiness.

Thank you for being you...

.

Marilyn...

.

Hello, dear ones!

Yesterday would have been Marilyn Monroe's 85th birthday.
I have many feelings about Marilyn.
I did a Marilyn photo collection post a while back.

Yesterday,
there were many photos of her available
 on many sites.

I found two that I hadn't seen before
and loved.

I think this first photo is perfect for this week.
The week of
Marilyn's birthday
and
Memorial Day.

Marilyn posing with troops in South Korea, 1954.
I bet every one of those soldiers never forgot that day.

This one is sad and so very beautiful to me.
Taken on the set of The Misfits in 1961.
It's one of the final images of Marilyn before her death.

~

I hope you are having a wonderful week!
Are you gearing up for a fun weekend?

I can't believe the boy will be out of school
a week from Friday.
What the...
Where does the time go?

Ron's getting ready for another trip.
He leaves on Sunday.
And you know me...
Let the worrywartness begin!

~

I promised you I would tell you my
two favorite photos
from the last post.

I must say there are two little smarty boots
who know me pretty well...
(I won't name any names, but...)

My two favorite photos that Ron took in Paris are:

6 & 16

(Although, I love them all!)

Thank you so much for stopping by, lovelies!

Much love...
