Turquoise Tuesday...

.

Hello, dear ones!  It's that time of week again...Happy Turquoise Tuesday to you!  I hope you're week is going beautifully.

Today's feature is just one item.  A basic essential in glorious turquoise.  The essential peacoat for casual day and evening wear.  The peacoat simply never goes out of style.  It's a smart investment for your wardrobe basics to have a good quality peacoat.  It can be dressed up or dressed down.  I absolutely love this one.

An ever-so-slight tragedy is the fact that I have a real love of coats, jackets, outerwear in general (I'm certain this comes as no surprise considering my line of business) yet I live in southern California...not much use for them here except for the rare cold or rainy day during winter.  For those of you with a colder climate, I live vicariously through you...starting with this gorgeous wool coat from J.Crew.

I also love the little leggings scrunched up and worn with those dreamy wine red pumps...swoon!

Thank you so much for popping in to see me.  You make me happy...xo

Major pangs of desire...

.

I'm in love with this linen coral hanging.  Major pangs of desire...I don't know where I'd find room for it on my walls, but I'm certain I could manage to find the exact right spot.  Isn't it completely gorgeous, with all of those delicious shades of gray and blue?

Thank you, sfgirlbybay, for sharing the link to this truly exceptional beauty!

I hope you are all having a perfectly perfect week.  I'm happily working away on my new Fall/Winter collection.  Never a dull moment in my little corner of the world...

Thank you so very much for visiting...Until next time...xo

Summer memories...

I can't bring myself to erase the welcome message
I wrote to my dear guests last week.

Summer vacation has come and gone...
but happily, the memories linger on.

I truly hope you are able to make some happy memories
this summer.

Thank you, sweet friends, for taking a moment out of your day to visit me....xo

Turquoise Tuesday...

Hello, dear ones, and Happy Turquoise Tuesday!  Are you having a good week so far?  I truly hope so.

Today's focus is once again sort of random, but mostly it's a feature with a coastal feel to it.  It reminds me of soft ocean breezes, the days of summer and the smell of the sea....A relaxing mood.  I hope you find these photos peaceful and soothing...

My darling guests left yesterday, the last of summer.  We had a wonderful time together.  Our boy started school yesterday as well.  However, the weather is still summery.  Glorious, in fact.  My blog posts have been a bit sparse with all of the summer activities, but I should be back into a more normal routine now that things have settled down.  Famous last words, right?

Thank you so much for stopping in.  Your comments are a constant source of delight...xo

Turquoise Tuesday...

.

Hello, lovely friends, and Happy Turquoise Tuesday!  I do hope you're having a wonderful week so far.

Today's focus is quite frankly, a lack of focus.  I couldn't decide on a theme so I proceeded to choose random photographs that I love and that make me feel peaceful, happy and inspired.  I hope you enjoy this little salute to turquoise randomness...

So there you have it, dear ones.  This week's Turquoise Tuesday feature.  I hope you had fun looking at these breathtaking images.

Enjoy the rest of your day, and I'll see you tomorrow.

Thank you so much for taking the time to visit me....xo

Happy Birthday, Dad...

.

Hi, lovely friends, and Happy Friday the 13th!  I don't know about you, but I find that when the 13th falls on a Friday, I tend to have an exceptionally good day.  So much for superstitions...

This day is extra special for my family as it's my dad's birthday.  I called him this morning to wish him a happy day and to arrange a little celebratory get-together.  To give you a feel for the kind of person he is...this was his reply.

"I'd love to see you, but just to see you.  I don't need a cake or presents.  I think of every day as my birthday.  Each day is a gift because you don't know what tomorrow brings.  I try to go to bed smiling and wake up smiling.  So let's get together just for the sake of being together."

He went on to say that on his actual birthday he thinks of his mom, Ardith, who passed not long ago, and his dad, Frank, who passed when my dad was 2.  He thinks of my brother and me and the families we've made.  He remembers his childhood and his sister, with the aunts and uncles and grandparents who helped Ardith raise him and his sister when Frank died.  Cherished memories are what he thinks about on his birthday.

I wanted to share part of the conversation I had with my dad because I feel that his thoughts about making every day one's birthday are words to live by.  I'm going to try to follow that philosophy, and I hope that you will too.  Let's see if we can begin and end our days with a smile and treat each day as a gift.  I know it's not always easy to do so, but with the extra effort and awareness we are bound to have success.

Have a beautiful day and as always, your comments are like little bright spots in my day...xo

Turquoise Tuesday on a Thursday evening...

.

Hello, dear friends.  How is your week going?  Mine has been just splendid, although I am a bit behind with my posts.  As you may know, I had a lovely house guest this past week and wanted to concentrate on spending time with her.

As a result, I missed Turquoise Tuesday this week.  I do believe it was fate though...While tending my shop tonight, I discovered a most beautiful feedback that was left today from an extra special client (and new friend).  Not only did she write extremely generous words, but she also included an amazing photograph.  I had to share it with you.  It's mesmerizing...and turquoise!  I thought it was too perfect to pass up and so we have this week's Turquoise Tuesday, on Thursday evening.  Thank you, dear sweet M, for leaving me such a touching feedback message along with this stunning photo.

Thank you for taking the time to stop in and see me, sweet friends!

In case I haven't mentioned it lately, thank you for being you...xo

The Uniform Project - A Pilot Series...

.

Hello and Happy Wednesday, lovely friends!  Have you heard about the latest and very exciting new Pilot Series on The Uniform Project site?  As you may know, I've been a big fan of Sheena's since the beginning.  The creative people behind The Uniform Project are now featuring month-long series, each month a chosen individual will wear the same garment every day and hopefully raise much-needed funds for their particular cause.

This month it's the beautiful India.  Her cause: Blair Grocery School in New Orleans.  What a worthwhile cause!  And would you just look at this lovely woman...

I hope you will cheer India on, and with lots of love and compassion, she may be able to raise a substantial amount of funds for her extra special cause.  Even the smallest donation makes a difference.

Thank you so much for taking the time to visit me.  I hope your day is a beautiful one...xo

Turquoise Tuesday...

Hello, dear friends, and Happy Turquoise Tuesday!  Is everyone having a good week so far?  I certainly hope so.

Today's feature is one photo.  It's a stand alone photo, as are most photos from National Geographic.  I chose this particular picture because the surfer, brave soul that he is, appears to be frozen in time in a water capsule of turquoise.  The way the sea changes color in this photo is simply stunning.  You couldn't pay me to attempt to ride a wave like that, but I'm so glad this guy went for it.  As a result of his skill as well as the photographer's skill, we have a magnificent photograph to enjoy.

National Geographic Photo of the Day for June 21, 2010.  Surfer in Maui.

I hope you have a beautiful Tuesday, and thank you for stopping in to see me...
You bring a smile to my face...xo

A Sense of Place...

from her A Sense of Place series

I've loved this photo by Susana Graph of Eudora Welty's Kitchen ever since I first laid eyes on it.  There's something about the way the light hits the scrubbed surfaces, or perhaps it's the window and the built-in cabinets.  I don't know exactly what it is about this photograph, but it makes me feel an overwhelming sense of nostalgia, happiness and well-being.

I hope you are enjoying this Sunday.  Thank you so much for visiting me...xo
